Recent years have seen a surge in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite launches across both public and private sectors—operating at varying frequencies (X, C, P, and L bands), resolutions, polarities, and revisit rates. This session provides an in-depth overview of current and planned SAR systems and explores how they can be applied to real-world missions.

Attendees will learn how interferometry can be used to estimate land subsidence at the centimeter level and detect elevation changes for applications such as landslides or infrastructure monitoring. The session also highlights how AI/ML techniques enhance SAR-based analytics, including object detection, motion target indication (MTI), and change detection, and how SAR embeddings contribute to foundational Earth models for large-scale analytics.

The course concludes with an exploration of how technologies like inter-satellite links (ISLs) enable low-latency missions and faster delivery of insights to field and operational users.
